HVAC Technician - Full-Time

 

General Description: Performs HVAC equipment repair, preventative maintenance and other general maintenance functions in the district as assigned. Duties shall be performed in a manner to derive maximum benefit of district funds
and resources. Principal responsibility is for the safe, healthful, and comfortable learning environment
provided by HVAC equipment that is utilized across the district.

 

Qualifications:  High School diploma and trade school or factory service trained.  EPA Refrigerant Type II — minimum requirement. Five years residential, and light-commerical (25-ton and under) HVAC equipment field service experience. Experience in Building Automation Systems - operation preferred. Ability to read and use information obtained from written sources, visual displays, and measuring devices. Ability to receive and process verbal information and to respond to nonverbal sounds. Ability to detect job related information based on sensory perception (touch and odor). Ability to make independent job-related decisions with little or no supervison. Ability to communicate and use Google email, calendar, and electronic work order software.  Valid state of Nebraska driver's license and a good driving record required. Must meet the insurability requirements of the school district carrier. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  1.  Dependable and reliable attendance.
  2.  Performs troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment.
  3.  Maintains equipment maintenance service records and refrigerant reclaim logs on all HVAC equipment.
  4.  When required, be able to respond to after hours and weekend emergency service calls (overtime pay when applicable).
  5.  Able to use HVAC equipment Building Management System (BAS) for monitoring, remote troubleshooting and   controlling HVAC equipment.
  6.  Able to communicate with local suppliers, secure pricing, and order repair parts “as needed” to restore HVAC   equipment back to normal operation in a timely manner.
  7.  Works with Maintenance Coordinator to identify and stock common repair parts for HVAC equipment to expedite repair   and restoring the equipment back to normal operation.
  8.  Operates snow removal and ice control equipment in accordance with the district snow removal policy. When required,   ability to start early mornings and weekends to open schools and assure safety of students and staff.
  9.  Ability to work independently and as part of a team to accomplish tasks.
  10.  Communicates effectively.
  11.  Any other general maintenance support functions as assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator.
